Introduction to data models and database design. Coverage of network, hierarchical, and relational architectures with emphasis on the latter. Study of relational algebra, entity-relationship modeling, and data normalization. Study of fourth generation query languages including SQL. Introduction to centralized, distributed, federated, and mediated systems.
