Course Description
This course will cover World War I, at the time called the Great War, beginning before 1914 with the run-up to war and ending after the war, including the postwar settlement, the early period of the Russian Revolution, and the origins of fascism in Italy and Germany. This is an international history, including the conflict on the western and eastern fronts as well as conditions on the home fronts of the various countries. The course lectures and readings will be accompanied by several films.
