Course Description
This course introduces students to a variety of fictional forms. We consider what makes prose into literary fiction and develop an arsenal of key terms and ideas about narrative that will lay the groundwork either for further study or for lifelong learning and appreciation. Our primary sources range from oral stories to novels from around the globe to recent experiments in fiction, with particular emphasis on writers from underrepresented groups.
