Course Description
This is a studio performance course in vocal technique for the stage or other performance media. Class work will include daily physical and vocal limbering designed to develop a free and natural speaking voice. Extensive exercises for the breath, resonation and articulation will be given to develop an awareness and appropriate use of the voice. In class presentations of scripted material, extracts from dramatic literature and readings of stories or poetry put into practice the techniques of this performance course. Instruction in dialect work for the stage will be included. Examinations will include presentations of memorized text following a vocal workout program in the Linklater method.
