Course Description
An introduction to the diagnosis, study, and treatment of psychological disorders. Emphasis will be placed on the cause (i.e., etiology), expected outcome (i.e., prognosis), and prevalence of the major mental disorders recognized by the American Psychiatric Association in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders. The course covers major categories of psychiatric diagnoses including Anxiety, Mood, Eating, Sexual, Trauma and Stressor-Related, Obsessive-Compulsive, Personality, Somatic, Dissociative, and Psychotic Disorders.
