Course Description
This course is an overview of Latin American and Caribbean politics, culture, history, economics, and environmental issues. Through readings, films, discussions, and guest speakers, students gain a solid background in Latin American history and societies. LAS 101 is required for LACS majors/minors and highly recommended for students majoring in Spanish, interested in international or global politics, or planning to apply for full terms or mini-terms to Latin America and the Caribbean.
