Course Description
This course will examine the social and psychological processes that shape the dying and bereavement process. The historical and cultural factors that influence attitudes toward dying and the ethical issues that impact decisions about how we die will be discussed. In addition, this course will discuss end of life care, including hospice, palliative care and pain management; how our health care system treats the dying; mental health interventions; and suicide.
