This course will survey important ideas in modern European history, including the writings of Jean Jacques Rousseau, Voltaire, Montesquieu, Adam Smith, Karl Marx, Charles Darwin, Friedrich Nietzsche, Sigmund Freud, Albert Einstein, Jean-Paul Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir, and Michel Foucault.
