Course Description
A basic engineering science course dealing with crystal structure, imperfections in solids, diffusion, mechanical properties of metals, dislocations and strengthening mechanisms, phase diagrams, phase transformations in metals, structure and properties of ceramics, and polymeric structures. The principles formulated in materials science allow engineers to understand the nature and behavior of a wide variety of engineering materials. Includes a laboratory component.
