The second term of a two-term sequence that introduces the structure and function of the human body, with an emphasis on providing a foundation for the study of pathological conditions. The processes by which the body maintains a stable internal environment (homeostasis) are stressed throughout. Topics include the following body systems: endocrine, cardiovascular (blood, heart, vessels), lymphatic, immune, respiratory, digestive (and metabolism), urinary (and fluid/electrolyte balance), and reproductive. This course does not count toward the Biology major or any affiliated major. It is strictly an elective toward graduation. Students with a documented interest in allied health professions will be given preference to register for this class.
