Madness & the Mad: Russn Cult

In this course we will investigate illness and its various representations in 19th and 20th century Russian culture. Specific emphasis will be placed on madness, disease and death in our discussion of various literary and historical madmen. The course will be conducted as a combination of lectures and class discussion. An occasional film will be shown.
