This course reflects on how Latin American identities are constructed through the lenses of written, visual, and oral texts. Latin-American cultural identities are conceived as processes initiated and sustained by the merging of radically different cultures that framed and continue to shape people's lives.. Particularly, the course explores the impact of gender relations, ethnicity, urban spaces, cultural practices and beliefs on identity. Substantive theoretical readings will complement the assignments.
