Course Description
This course examines the history of Africa since 1950 with an emphasis on politics and culture. Through readings of novels, memoirs and historical accounts, combined with lectures, discussions and films, this course will explore the last fifty years of African history. Much of the course will focus on case studies in such countries or regions as West Africa, East Africa, the Congo, Nigeria, Algeria and Egypt.
